Q: What do you like to depict in your photos the most?

A: Beauty.

Q: What inspires your art?

A: Almost anything, I’m very easily inspired.

Q: What purpose does art serve for you?

A: Art gives me an outlet to express myself and communicate my feelings to the outside world.

Q: What are some of your favorite things to photograph?

A: People. They’re so transformative, you can make them into anything.

Q: What are your future goals and aspirations?

A: Immortality. I just want to create things that last.

Q: What is your favorite thing about summer?

A: I love the sun, it gives me natural light and shadows to play with.

Q: Who is your favorite designer, artist, and/or photographer? Why?

A: I’ll give you all three.

Favorite designer: Charles and Ray Eames, they were always experimenting and trying new things, and they created a lot of things with no reference point going against the norm of their time.

Favorite Artist: Kerry James Marshall, his art is simply moving to me. My favorite piece of his is Vignette #13 it depicts two lovers holding hands.

Favorite Photographer: Harley Weir, she makes me feel emotions through her work, I feel like it’s so hard to accomplish that through photography. I also love her use of colors, light, and shadows. Her pictures have a sense of dreamy fantasy to them but also being real enough to empathize with.

Q: What do you want to communicate through your art?

A: I just want to be able to move people. If you feel anything from my work even if you’re disgusted by it, I’d feel accomplished. You know how people say a picture is worth 1000 words, I really want people to feel the weight of those 1000 words represented by photographs.

Q: Describe your work in 3 words.

A: Beauty, Curious and Colorful.

Q: How has photography impacted your life?

A: It’s made me pay a lot more attention to the details.

Q: What is the most creative thing you have ever done?

A: I made a book for 24 Karat Posse. Like I did all the binding and everything, it was cool. We didn’t even sell them we just gave them away. I have a copy and Larry has a copy if anyone wants to see it.

Q: What would they serve you at your ideal summer cookout?

A: I’m a vegetarian so definitely grilled zucchini.
